San Diego night skyline
I have seen photos of the San Diego skyline with an awesome light reflection in the water, so I knew that it could look like that, and I wanted to capture it myself. I spoke to one photographer who said he went in the morning, so I tried one morning. It looked pretty boring, and minimal reflection. I decided maybe it needed to be darker, so I tried one day when the clouds were awesome, and got some sunset photos and then waited until it was dark. Still no cool reflection. I used long exposure, so I thought the choppiness of the water didn’t matter, but apparently it does. It was the end of a storm which was why we had the awesome clouds and annoying wind, but I actually did really like how the clouds looked behind the city. That was actually two nights ago, and the first photo is from that night. I like the photo because of the clouds and the ferry that was going by. Last night, as I was driving home, I noticed that the light was reflecting off the water beautifully! I ran in to get my camera and went back out to capture it.
I did one photo that wasn’t long exposure because I loved how the light sparkled on the waves, but I had to capture it quickly before they settled down, so the settings weren’t quite perfect and it’s a tiny bit fuzzy and grainy. The rest are all 30 seconds exposure, and I’m soooooo happy with them! I finally captured the magic. 🙂
