Del Mar Racetrack

Background story on this:  Several months ago, like possibly a year ago, I met a photographer at Seaport Village who was participating in a scavenger hunt as part of a Meetup group. I think I must have had my camera with me, because he told me all about the group, and recommended that I try it out. He gave me his card, but I forgot about it for a long time, and I”m not sure where exactly it is now. So I finally decided to go look for the group on Meetup.com, and I have no idea which one it was, ha. I did, however, find some great photography groups (and have since then started joining other groups, although I haven’t gone to any except this one photography group so far). The Pacific Photographic Society is AMAZING, and they have all sorts of events all the time. This was my first event with them, and it was such a great opportunity!

So, as part of the Meetup with the Pacific Photographic Society group, we got press passes for a day at the Del Mar Racetrack. We got to go early in the morning to watch the warm-ups, then a tour of a stable, and then we got to go to a bunch of special locations to take photos of the races and the horses getting ready that the general public doesn’t get to go to. I had been to the racetrack before, but definitely didn’t get this kind of special access, so it was a lot of fun. The members of the Meetup group are great too, and everyone was so helpful with tips on shooting and such. I highly recommend the group, and I can’t wait for more events like this! Also, horse racing is fun. 🙂
