I actually just took this photo for the purpose of posting it on Facebook and announcing that I had received this letter with these photographs. It’s my family, but most importantly, my mother, who died when I was a baby. I have some distant-ish family that has sent me photos a couple times, and it makes me really happy. But anyways, I like how this photo turned out, so here it is.

Phoneography Favorites

Thanks to The Daily Post and Cheri Lucas for choosing one of my photos as a highlight of the phoneography month photo challenges in March! It was the “Future Tense” one…that one was indeed my most popular post. 🙂  And congrats to all the other great photographers!

Self Portrait, with help

I’ve been planning this in my head for a while, but most of the time all the conditions needed (me doing my hair and makeup, me wearing clothes that most define me, it being sunny, me bringing my camera, and friend being available) didn’t all coincide at the same time. Today I planned it. So, as just stated, it’s not entirely a self portrait, since I didn’t actually take the photos myself, but I’m still going to take most of the credit for the idea, planning, setup, instruction, and editing. But thanks to my friend for taking the photos. 🙂 So, yeah…these are the two “cameras” I shoot with, photos taken using the other camera. Aren’t I clever? Ha. 🙂

Oh, and tried to get the tattoo in there…it’s my first camera. Or a close approximation…

2012 in review

The stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

600 people reached the top of Mt. Everest in 2012. This blog got about 5,500 views in 2012. If every person who reached the top of Mt. Everest viewed this blog, it would have taken 9 years to get that many views.

Update!! ….finally….

Sorry everyone!!  I was kinda in my off-season and didn’t really do much of anything (for my art business)…I was anticipating uploading more photos to this site during the off-season but even that didn’t happen.  So I have a few updates…and I will seriously try to upload more photos.  However, it is art-selling season, which means art-making season…so we’ll see how that goes 🙂

So, the only news item that has already happened is that the lovely store Nobal Home is now carrying my photographs, and they are doing quite well!!  If you live in Portland or come to visit, you should visit them, because they have a ton of cute items.  For reals, not just saying that because I need to support them because they’re supporting me. 🙂

For upcoming news…

I am starting First Thursday in the Pearl in May, so that will be May 3.  I wasn’t sure if I was going to do it this year, but I am just going to do May through August, so that I can get myself out there some more and also have a chance to just attend First Thursday later in the year and admire other artists’ work.

Also, I am participating in I Heart Art‘s Mixer Match, where I will get 2 minutes each to meet with gallery/shop owners and pitch my work to them.  I’m super excited and pretty nervous, but it could be an amazing opportunity to get my work “out there” more.  That is happening April 25, so I am working like crazy on new art, figuring out my pitch, etc.  I made new, more professional looking business cards that just came in the mail, and I’m pretty darn excited about them.  I’m just pretty darn excited all around. 🙂

Like I said, I’m hoping to keep this more updated and get some more photos up here!!  Sorry I have been slacking…

New Blog!!

I made a new blog!!  It’s about Love…it will be my musings based off of research. 🙂  Just started it, but check it out!!

My first art show!!

Hey everyone!!  I’m going to have my first show all to myself!!  My photos will be up for a WHOLE MONTH in a cute little store called Little Things (  It will run from October 6 through November 9, and she even made a flyer!!  I don’t think I’ve ever had a flyer that featured me…probably because I’ve never been featured anywhere…so as you might guess, I’m SUPER excited!! 🙂 I’m going to the Astoria Sunday Market this Sunday, but that’s my last planned street fair type event, so this was pretty awesome to work out like this.  I can give you a little background on how it came about…

So Akiko, of 5th Season: Clothing Reborn, who I have been sharing a spot with at pretty much all of the fairs and stuff I’ve done (but not all that she’s done, because she does everything!) is super connected and super awesome, and she added me to this Facebook group called Creative Connection PDX…it’s a group of female creatives in Portland who run their own businesses.  It’s pretty fantastic, and I’m super excited to be a part of it.  So Andrea, of Little Things, posted something asking if anyone wanted to have art up for their First Thursday Show, so I said I was interested and explained what I do, and she loved my stuff, and the rest is history!  I’m really excited to meet all of these wonderful creative women, and get more connected.  And if you need anything, I might be able to find someone who can do that for you…

I have a website!!

So…I’ve never made a website…my boyfriend is a web designer, but I know close to nothing about web design.  So here is my barely-customized-but-with-most-of-the-work-already-done-for-me website.  Now I just have to figure out how to do this…
