Unleashed by Petco Surf Dog Competition

There are two things that San Diego loves: surfing and dogs. There are more things, yes, like tacos, but this is about the marriage of those two wonderful things, ergo: dog surfing. I had seen photos of San Diegan surfing dogs circulating the internet, but never witnessed it in person. When I heard about the Surf Dog Competition, I HAD to go. It was everything as promised; many surfing dogs, ranging from small to extra large, as well as some sort of buddy competition, where dogs surfed together or with their owners, as well as a dog play area, dog photo booth, and many dog-friendly vendors. We brought our sweet baby Widdle, and he had a great time! It was a little hot for him because he was a bit of a wimp, but otherwise, it is a great event for the whole fur-family! We couldn’t stay the whole time, due to Widdle’s dainty composure, but what we did get to do/see was a lot of fun!

Garden Party of the Century

Anything that has this name, of course I had to go! Since this year is Balboa Park’s centennial anniversary, they are doing a bunch of special things all year long, and a big floral party was one of them. I unfortunately had to miss most of it, but did get to see this one small part of it. You can’t go wrong with flowers!

St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Obviously I’m quite behind on these, but better late than never, right? I’ve never been to a St. Patrick’s Day parade before, so it was a lot of fun. There were some new, interesting things that I hadn’t seen at previous parades I have been to. It was great to see some actual Irish people/things, as opposed to what I normally see on St. Patrick’s day 😉

Spring Busker Festival

I would have liked to have been able to see a little bit more of this. There were some quite talented street performers! It was a fun event; being able to see various street performers in one location. I went to the evening show and then the second day show. The street performers were all very talented and great at engaging the audience. I was very entertained! 🙂

28th Annual Koi Show and Water Garden Expo

So koi are pretty cool. I think most people would agree with that. 🙂 I am not a koi enthusiast or anything, but it was really fun to go to this show. Koi are fascinating, and I had no idea how many different types there are. There were some very unique looking ones, as well as sizes ranging from babies to GIGANTIC ones. I believe the largest was 70 lbs, although don’t quote me on that. It was definitely huge though. I’m thinking I might have to start a koi family…

Legacy Graduation

My first event photography!  Was actually a pretty fun event to be attending, even without photographing it…they had super yummy food.  Didn’t take any photos of that…I probably should have.  So for the event, I did candid shots of people chatting, then a “photobooth”, but I don’t have a remote, so I took the photos myself on my tripod, and then photos of the ceremony.  Conditions for the ceremony were not ideal, so I am only posting one of the group shots after they all received their awards.  This is a small sample.  Click the images to see them larger! 🙂
